Community Thank You.

By Wockenfuss, Gary

June 03, 2019

Weeping Water Family Teams,

I retired this month as the MS-HS principal of WWPS. This is an open letter of thank you to many citizens of Weeping Water and surrounding communities. It is very hard to personally thank all of the students, parents, teachers, school volunteers, community members, businesses, our churches and political figures who worked with me as we approached every detail in operating a school — not only for instruction of students as they move into a new era of learning, but for their safety as well.

As I retire after 33 years of service in education (11 years at Weeping Water) I appreciate each of you and all that we shared. As happy as I am to be moving on to the next chapter of my life, I cannot help but be a little sad.  I will miss working with such an efficient and competent team of individuals. I am so proud of what we have accomplished over the past 11 years, and I truly appreciate the support and guidance that was always available to me.

I have seen students grow up to be successful citizens and then bring me their children to start the educational process as well. What a rewarding cycle for those of us who have had “children of children.” I see outstanding professionals in our community that I had a small part in educating — a strong educational system will continue to strengthen our community.

I would like to let you know I have never been denied assistance when I called on a segment of our community on behalf of the students. The citizens of Weeping Water  have “Stepped Up” and helped their own and others, too. Their very actions have inspired me to come into action, as well. A sincere and heartfelt thank you. I will miss all of you.

I would also like to thank my family as well, they have been the force to help mold me to be where I am today; Kari, Rebecca and Blake. Their encouraging words has helped me be the best Principal I can be for students. I thank you each of them for believing in me!

Yours in Education

Mr. Gary Wockenfuss
