FBLA

What is FBLA?

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a national career student association for students in grades 9-12 who are interested in business or business education careers.  Over 5,300 students in more than 130 high schools in Nebraska participate in the FBLA program.  Benefits of FBLA membership are business proficiencies, community responsibility, leadership skills, and self-confidence.

What does FBLA do?

The Weeping Water chapter of FBLA usually has meetings over the lunch hour once or twice a week.  Officers will attend the Fall Leadership Conference in Omaha in September and all members are encouraged to attend the State Leadership Conference in Omaha in April and members have the opportunity to attend conferences such as the Path to Success at UNL.  During the 2013-14 school year, WWHS FBLA participated in:

    •    Adopt-a-Highway Litter Pickup
    •    Keep Cass County Beautiful litter pickup
    •    Helped with the Celebrate My Drive Week
    •    Members completed a “Go Green Project” which included a coloring contest for elementary students, a wear green day, a used toy drive after which the toys were donated to the Peoples City Mission, recycling facts in the bulletin each day, and continuing to collect the recycling materials from the classrooms.
    •    Held a bake sale to assist the cheerleaders in raising money for the Susan G. Kommen breast cancer research foundation
    •    Held a bake sale with the proceeds going to the March of Dimes

Our FBLA chapter conducts several fundraisers during the year to raise money to help pay for members costs of attending the State Leadership Conference.  This past year fundraisers included selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts twice during the school year and selling fruit just before Christmas as well as working two concession stands.

If you are interested in belonging to FBLA watch the bulletin and our bulletin board (outside Mr. Pfeiffer’s room) and attend a meeting.
