Dr. Welte is the proud mom to two young men, Gage (24) and Tate (20) who are currently studying nutrition science at UNL and exercise science at University of Central Missouri (UCM), respectively. When she's not cheering on the Indians at events this year, you'll find her supporting the Mules football team at UCM, rooting for the Huskers, enjoying family & friends, doing a home improvement project, or reading the latest J.K. Rowling or Jon Gordon book.

Since graduating from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1992, she has served as a middle and high school English teacher, assistant principal, and secondary education director in public schools of all sizes in both Missouri and Nebraska. When Dr. Welte reflects on her personal philosophy, she cites a quote by Harvey S. Firestone, “You get the best out of others when you give the best of yourself.” This quote illustrates how she strives to live out every aspect of her life.

Serving as building principal has been a career goal for Dr. Welte. She is excited for the opportunity to be a member of the Weeping Water community and help lead positive change for students, staff, and families that can cultivate a love of learning, create opportunities, improve lives, and promote our democracy.
